Senator Andy Manar (D-Bunker Hill) issued the following statement today (May 30) regarding his votes on a pair of property tax freeze measures taken up by the Illinois Senate:

There are no perfect solutions and many compromises before us this year as Illinois faces the possibility of entering a third year without a state budget under Gov. Rauner. Property taxes are controlled locally and have nothing to do with resolving the state’s financial crisis, but the fact is the demand for property tax relief exists in all parts of Illinois, including my district. Now that the Senate has met all of Gov. Rauner’s demands for reform, I look forward to him signing the budget that we balanced for him so that we can all work together to move the state forward.
